DONATE A VEHICLE

Through our nonprofit partner, CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services), a donated vehicle can turn into cash for our organization. CARS strives to accept ALL vehicle types (running or not) including cars, trucks, trailers, boats, RVs, motorcycles, campers, off-road vehicles, planes, heavy equipment, farm machinery, and most other motorized vehicles! Pretty great, huh?

REAL ESTATE PROPERTY

We partner with CARS (Charitable Adult Rides & Services) to process real estate donations made to MoreFor4, Inc. They can accept any property type (land, homes, commercial) in any location as long as there is equity. Even if you owe back taxes, have a mortgage balance, or deferred maintenance, it’s no problem. CARS will pay off all loans, liens, commissions owed, and pay all closing costs. After the property is sold, M44 receives the donation in cash, less any sales-related expenses and a very reasonable amount paid to CARS for handling this for us. (They are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, too!)

If you have a real estate asset that is costing you money or not being utilized, donating it is a great way to further your philanthropic interests… and you may even get a significant tax deduction! Lovingly, if you are a cancer patient making plans for what happens to your assets later, or a family member or friend who has inherited a property from a loved one who has passed, we hope you will keep M44 in mind when making decisions about these kinds of assets. This is one of the most significant gifts you can offer to the M44 community.

CARS will notify M44 before moving forward with the sale of any real estate property donated to us. That means, if a property may be PERFECT for direct member housing through our HomeMatters program (including vacant land ideally suited for a newly-constructed M44 house, small apartment building or tiny home community) — we can always shift how we proceed with your donation!

Since all HomeMatters properties will need to be accessible for residents with mobility challenges, and located in reasonably close proximity to major cancer treatment centers, it is likely that most properties donated to M44 will be put up for sale. M44 can then turn cash proceeds into new real estate purchases that are ideal for direct Stage IV cancer patient housing! Cancer patients may not end up living IN the dwelling or ON the land you donated, but you ARE making M44 subsidized housing possible.

DEDICATED RELIEF FUND

Would you like to establish a dedicated Rapid Relief Fund for low-income Stage IV cancer patients in your name… or in memory or honor of a loved one? You can determine what kind of needs you wish to support and basic eligibility standards. We do ask, however, that the fund be available to individuals with any type of Stage IV cancer — as we must remain mindful that people with rare or rarer cancers have more difficulty accessing needed help through existing patient assistance programs.

To establish a dedicated fund, M44 requires a 3-year commitment of no less than $25,000 per year. Please reach out to Mary Costello to discuss your interest in creating/personally-sponsoring a need-specific patient assistance fund. We are eager to speak with you!

FUNDRAISE FOR M44 ONLINE

Want to raise money for M44? If you opt to do so on Facebook, you will find us listed as a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If you don’t use Facebook or prefer another option, we’ve got you covered! You can start an online fundraiser right on the Pledge platform. On M44’s profile page, look for the button that says “Start Fundraiser.” Click on that and set up your personal account. We are confident you can handle it from there!

For those interested in hosting a House Party or other IN-PERSON event, M44 will provide tool kits and support. We are not ready to do this yet, but information will be made available once we are! This is different than online fundraising and, depending on the size of the event you have in mind… your efforts could involve our marketing team or even a M44 representative joining you on event day! Stay tuned for updates about this!

M44 FIRST RESPONDERS

If a member is in dire need of cash assistance when there is no money in the Rapid Relief Fund, we will FIRST turn to M44 First Responders to try to help that person. First Responders are members who have already signed up to help — if and when they can. Essentially, we issue Calls to Action to folks on the First Responders email list. It is the single most effective way to raise money when someone needs a RAPID response.

There is no obligation to help. Becoming a M44 First Responder only means you are willing to contribute when you CAN to help those in crisis — and you welcome emails about their pressing need. Maybe you are able to cover someone’s rent or other need ALL BY YOURSELF. Or perhaps you can swing $25 on occasion. It adds up. And it all matters.
